In Eager Anticipation

Is this the way

     of the bride

          who longs after her bridegroom?

The way I linger long,

     and look hard

           toward the place of his going?

Knowing he’s working hard on his trip, returning soon?

Looking toward the day of his coming,

                the wait seems long,

      yet, ever nearer.

Is this the way

     of the church

            longing after Christ?

Do I wait

     fervently for my Heavenly King?

Knowing he’s preparing a place for me?

Looking toward the day of His coming,

             seemingly long,

    yet, ever nearer.

In eager anticipation.

Grace and peace be ours in abundance as we long for Christ.  May we find that our longing leads to action in the here and now—staying in the flow of the Spirit and making the most of each opportunity to love and to care for those who cross our paths as we look toward the day of Christ’s coming.
